How a Sale Works, From Four Details to Pickup
Selling a junk car to us takes four details, one phone call and one pickup. Here's each step, what we ask and why, and the papers to have ready so pickup day goes quickly. Ready now? Get your offer.
Send the four details
The form asks for the year, make and model, and whether you have the title. Those four details tell us roughly what the car weighs, which of its parts are still in demand, and how the paperwork will go. Then it asks for your name, a phone number and where the car is parked, so we can call you and send the truck to the right place.
There's no photo upload and no long form. We'd rather ask a few questions on the phone.
We call you with an offer
We call the number you gave us. On the call we go over the things the form can't tell us:
- Does it run? Does it roll?
- Is anything missing, like the engine, transmission, catalytic converter, battery or wheels?
- Is there fire or flood damage?
- Where exactly is it: driveway, curb, backyard, garage, a repair shop, an apartment or HOA lot?
- Is there more than one car? One pickup can take several.
Then you get a number. If you want to know how we got there, ask. We explain it the same way we do in what a junk car is worth in Gary.
Pick a pickup time
If the offer works for you, we set a time inside our hours, 06:00 to 21:00, seven days a week (Central Time). We can often pick up the same day. The offer has no expiry, so there's no rush on your end. If you'd rather wait a few days, or until you've cleaned out the trunk, tell us when we call.
Pickup and payment
A tow truck comes to the car. The tow is free, and nothing comes off your offer to pay for it. You hand over the keys and papers, and payment is made right there at pickup: Zelle, Cash App, cash or another digital method, your call.
Papers to have ready
- The title, if you have it. That's the simplest sale.
- No title? We can still help. Indiana lets a junk car change owners on either of two documents. One is the title; if yours is lost, a BMV duplicate costs $15. The other is a BMV certificate of authority, a $4 document you apply for yourself with proof the car is yours, such as your current registration. If the car is under 15 model years old, the law requires one of the two. Send us what you have (a bill of sale, the registration, an insurance card) and we'll say on the call which paper your car needs.
- Your license plate. Indiana's BMV says the seller should remove the plate at the time of the sale, and the buyer is responsible for the new title, registration and plate. The BMV's buying and selling page has the details.
What you don't need to do
You don't need to fix anything, clean anything, or get the car running. Take out your personal things and your plate. Everything else can stay.

Quick answers
- How long does a junk car pickup take?
- It depends on where the car is parked and how easy it is to load. Having the title or other papers ready and the plate already off makes the handover quick.
- Do I have to be there for the pickup?
- Tell us your situation when we call. Someone needs to hand over the keys and papers and receive payment, so we'll agree on who that is and when.
- Does the car need to run?
- No. We buy cars that don't run, don't roll, or haven't moved in years. Tell us which, so we send the right truck.
